Building on the success of our popular men’s jacket, the Brooks Down vest delivers ultralight, packable, backcountry insulation in an even lighter package. Built with 100 grams of DWR-treated, 800-fill power, 37.5-DownTek, this piece provides advanced, active insulation that fights off moisture to keep you warm, dry, and comfortable.

When you are miles deep into the backcountry, counting ounces is vital, but never at the expense of staying warm and protected from the elements. With that balance in mind, the Brooks was designed using 50% more down than its closest competitor to be the lightest weight possible while ensuring best-in-class warmth. Whether you are packing into the high Tundra for caribou in August or climbing southwestern Sky Islands for Coues deer in January, the men's Brooks Down Vest is the trusted choice to guarantee your warmth while keeping your gear lightweight.

Game changer!

I was wearing my base layers, Klamath (or Origin, depending on temps), Source vest, and Phase this season and was able to be in the low 30's with no issues. I was getting ready to head for camp for the PA rifle opener and they were calling for a high of 25 and windy. I was worried the Source vest would be too light with that setup, and really didn't want to go to my Solitude setup (I HATE bibs)due to saddle hunting the whole time. I was hoping the Brooks vest would get me to the Temps I needed. Well, the high ended up being 19 the first two days with 20mph winds. I did have a slight chill at times, but never got cold. And to be able to throw it in my pack for the hike in was perfect as well!

Awesome vest

Bought this before my Colorado elk hunt in November. It was extremely warm and comfortable. Fit nicely over my other First Lite gear. Hiked in it through the snow and stayed warm

My favorite

This is my second Brooks Down vest, the first one in Camo stays in my hunting pack, packs super small but great warmth. This one in solid is more for around town, so light you don't notice it on. It is irritating how wide the range is on sizing on hunting clothing, I think First Lite is better at Standard sizing.

Light and warm

I layer this over the Origin hoodie and under the Uncompahgre jacket depending on the temperature. Very warm given its weight.
