A lightweight, quiet mid-layer designed to be utilized as both an outerwear piece as well as a layering option as temperatures drop. Designed for the treestand, the blind, and the mountain side, the Origin Hoody's Shooter's Cut allows for full range of motion when drawing a bow or shouldering a rifle making it better fitting than its predecessor, the Klamath Hoody. The Origin Hoody is feature rich with discretely integrated facemask and cuff thumb loops that are easily tucked away when not in use. The piece also incorporates a large chest and kangaroo pocket with premium, rubber-dipped zip closures for secure storage.

Powered by 37.5 fleece lining and HeiQ Pure, the Origin is temperature regulating, lightweight, and odor resistant making it a layer versatile enough for spring bear, spring turkey, early season whitetail, mid season elk, as well as mid to late season whitetail & western big game.

Incredible Hoody

They say it's a midlayer, but in Texas it's outerwear. In the mid 50s with a t-shirt, I can sit for hours and be warm. Paired with kiln base layer, bring on the 40s. Now I need the origin pants.

Comments about Origin Hoody

I have been a first lite customer for a couple years now. I have been thoroughly impressed by the quality of goods in every category. I was always hesitant to take the leap and buy expensive camo. Just get it over with and take the leap. You'll enjoy your hunts a whole lot more when you are confident in your gear and comfortable. Its all built in to the systems. You start to realize why there are all the added features when you start hunting in all different terrains and weather.

Comments about Origin Hoody

I only have used it on a couple hikes so far, I know that if its warmer than 50 you cant be too active because it is a very warm piece. I will be using it to still hunt archery season and to sit un a blind For Turkey season. It could use some Pit zips to dump heat! Large fits me great. Im 5'11" 190. I like it and will mix it in where i see fit.

I have only used this piece for one season so far but I'm impressed. Very warm for how light and thin it is. Perfect as an outer layer for most of the little cold snaps in Texas. I would agree they run slightly big, I'm 5'10", 205 and the large is perfect. My only complaint is the fleece material inside grabs a hold of whatever shirt you are wearing underneath and bunches it all up when putting it on. This is especially annoying with long sleeves, you have to reach all under the hoodie to get everything laying right again. Not a major issue though. I like it so much I'm going to buy another in a solid color for everyday use.

Comments about Origin Hoody

The features are perfect. The weight is ideal for a quick outer layer. It's very packable. It's now one of my favorite pieces of clothing. I stick it in my pack and after I get settled in the tree I can slip it on when I get cooled down.

Comments about Origin Hoody

I love the Origin, including its handy zippered kangaroo pocket and the built-in ventilated face mask. I originally bought one in Fusion to go with the majority of my hunting gear, and have added Cerca for Western Hunting and now Typha for waterfowl, too. Works great as my outer layer over a Kiln top on chilly but not really cold hunts, for which I switch to an Uncompaghre jacket.

Q&A

Showing 10 out of 45 Questions

Q

I'm 6'2 220 lbs and wear a large in the corrugate foundry jacket and most base layers. What size would you recommend for the origin hoodie?

Asked by Cal
Verified Reply - ClaytonHello Cal! We would recommend a large in this piece as our gear will fit similarly across product lines!
Q

Say if I wanted to wear a wick and kiln under origin hoody I wear size medium in those tops should I go medium or size up to large ?

Asked by Josh
Verified Reply - KyleStick with a medium if the Wick and Kiln are not tight on you. If they are, go up to a large.
Q

Trying to order an origin hoodie tonight for the deal. It will be my first firstlite clothing. I am 5'7" 170 I normally wear a large but I see it runs big. Should I stay with that size or a medium only looking to wear one base layer under it

Asked by Dusty
Verified Reply - NathanI personally would recommend a size medium within the Origin Hoody given your current height and weight!
Q

How does the material hold up against thorns and briar patches? Often hunt swamps and thickets so do not want material that is constantly getting caught and torn moving through tight areas.

Asked by Matt
Verified Reply - ClaytonHey Matt! The origin can sustain some heavy brush, but with it being a fleece face fabric I might recommend our Corrugate Guide Jacket for pursuits where you find yourself in the thorns often!
Q

I'm 5'11" and weigh 230 with a gut. What size would you recommend?

Asked by Cory
Verified Reply - ClaytonHey Cory! I would refer you to our size chart on this, but in saying that I would recommend going with your normal t-shirt sizing!
Q

What size would you recommend for someone 5'9" 170lbs? I currently wear the Wick T in a small to have a trim fit. Would the Origin be better in S or M?

Asked by Wes
Verified Reply - GarryHey Wes, The Medium Origin would be the best fit!
Q

How does the origin hoody fit compared to the trace pullover? I am trying to compare sizing to a piece i already have. I currently have L in the trace but I wear M in my solitude and catalyst sets.

Asked by Z
Verified Reply - ChaseHey! I would recommend getting a the same size you have in the Trace as the fitment is very similar. And the Solitude and Catalyst systems run a little big. If that does not fit you we can get you an exchange for the proper size.
Q

Hey I am looking for a late season November Idaho archery piece. I'm between layering this on top of my Klamath top or just going into a uncompahgre jacket from you guys. I know the actual jacket would be louder but would it be too loud for an archery hunt or would you recommend just layering this with the klamath?

Asked by Tucker
Verified Reply - ClaytonHey Tucker! Either way, you would be fine using both pieces. In terms of noise, there will be no noise with the Origin Hoody, but the noise that is associated with the Uncompahgre is also very minimal unless going through scratchy brush!
Q

Is this water resistant at all?

Asked by JFauch
Verified Reply - KyleIt has a DWR-treated face for light precipitation. All DWR washes out over time so you'll have to re-apply it if you're using this fleece hoody for rain protection.
Q

I wear a Medium in the Catalyst jacket (perfect fit) but had to upsize to a Large in the Source jacket due to shorter arm length on that jacket. I am 5'-11 and weigh 167. I do have broad shoulders which make my arms a little longer than normal. I prefer a more form fitting fit for bow hunting. Would you recommend a Medium or Large? I would use this as a second layer over a wick or yuma shirt.

Asked by Grant
Verified Reply - ClaytonHey Grant! The Origin Hoody is very true to size when compared to the Catalyst Jacket so I would recommend a medium for you in this garment!
