Avid whitetailers in the humid Southeast have been asking us for a solution for truly hot, early-season hunts. We are proud to introduce the Trace System: a Quarter Zip top and pants purpose-built for hunts when humidity and temperature both crest 90. Constructed with porous yet durable KineticGrid™ fabric and treated with HeiQ Pure Odor Control Technology, this system offers maximum breathability and odor control in a silent, ultralight package. Whether you are hunting South Carolina’s August whitetail opener or baking in an archery blind waiting on an antelope, the Trace System will keep you cool and comfortable.

The Trace Pant features top and side entry cargo pockets that are accessible while sitting. The zippered side-entry cargo pocket also doubles as a second vent for maximum airflow when used in conjunction with the hip vents. Zippered rear wallet pockets provide additional secure storage. Jean-style front pockets have a built-in knife sleeve for easy access to your pocket knife, and the integrated low-profile belt is pack-belt compatible.

The model in the walk-on video is 5' 11" and 170 lbs, wearing a size 32/32. The Trace Pant features an Athletic Fit.

I will start by saying that I'm a huge First Lite fan and have a ton of products. I was just showing my wife these pants as I was thinking about purchasing them. My wife's 1st comment as soon as she saw the "Walk-On" with the model standing front-to was, "is he wearing the pants backwards"? And then it hit me. . . . it does look like he is wearing the pants backwards (as in 1990's MC Hammer style). Why are those front pockets even there? You can't put anything in them. . . . I feel confident I can share this granted that I have a ton of First Lite gear.

Great pants. Very good airflow and love the fit. Not baggy but also not built to the current trend of thigh huggers. I would say fit true to size and the price feels right for the quality.

My one complaint is the venting. They ALMOST got it right, with a vent on the inside AND outside of the thigh to maximize air flow-through. The inside of the thigh is actually more important and ski/snowboard/outdoor brands have known this for decades. That's where the heat is so that's one of the best places on the body to dump it. The problem with the inside thigh vent on these pants - when you open it, it opens right into your cargo pockets. Why anyone would combine a vent with a pocket makes no sense to me. If you're pounding vertical and decide to open your vent, there's a good likelihood that you're probably not focused on what's going on with the stuff in your pockets and the movement is likely to be shifting things around in there, so it could easily fall out. And you're not likely to drop back down (or climb back up) once (if) you notice you dropped something.

Having a side zipper on these cargos makes sense for when you're sitting and want to get something out, but effectively renders the vent non-functional while on the move (when you actually need it). I'll still use these pants a ton, and would buy again. But I'd call them perfect if they had a standalone inner thigh vent.
