I spend almost half the year in hunting clothing. Absolutely hate these pants. Bought these last fall. Pockets are a joke- have to use a chest harness for my side arm so I can move my pocket stuff to a pouch on my pack when I wear these. Snagged the first easy hunt and there’s no thorns on the brush where I live/hunt. Waist band is horrid after a long day in the woods- you’re hot and sweaty and the last thing you want is zero stretch. Forget adding a layer under these when weather is cooler because of that zero stretch waist band. When you’re field dressing animals, sitting in a tree stand, sitting on a game trail, or just stalking the woods in the heat the last thing you want is a waist band with zero stretch with an itchy tag. I’m going to make some modifications so I can at least use them until they are full of holes but I’ve never regretted keeping something I purchased as much as these pants. Almost all my other hunting clothing is the old style firstlite women’s- please redesign again soon or bring back the alturas. The obsidians were great except they had to be washed and they shrank every time (cold water and line dried-mid calf length after one fall of use) which is odd because my husbands mens obsidian style pants don’t shrink. Please bring back the alturas so I don’t have to find another clothing company, lol.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for our Women's 308 Pant. We're sorry to hear that they did not meet your expectations and caused inconvenience during your hunting trips. We value your feedback and will definitely take it into consideration for future designs. We understand the frustration with the pockets and waistband, and we apologize for any discomfort they may have caused. We will pass on your comments to our team for further improvements. In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to us with any specific suggestions on how we can make the pants better for you.

Overall, better than the Alturas

I can't comment about durability yet as I just received these but my hopes are high given I'm still wearing my original Alturas pants. Even though they are still kicking, I wanted to try out the fit of the new 308 pants and I really liked the new Walnut color. I do like the higher waist of the 308 compared to the Alturas and if I had to or wanted to wear a belt with the 308, it would sit above the hip belt of my pack, instead of directly underneath the hip belt like with my Alturas. I also find the material/fabric of the 308 to be slightly lighter and more breathable than the Alturas- I'm certainly looking forward to the side vents on the 308 when the weather heats up. The fabric of the 308 is still stretchy and moves with me, but its not as stretchy as the Alturas fabric. This makes it feel a little more substantial if I wanted to say, appendix carry off a belt. I like the styling of the pack pockets on the 308. I don't find them particularly useful or accessible, especially under a pack, but they just look better than no pockets like the Alturas. The Alturas did have convenient cargo pockets that held my phone easily on the side of either leg, whereas the 308 have a carpenter style pocket on the back side of the right leg that holds my iPhone in a slim case. I'm not sure it would fit an larger format iPhone though. Since my iPhone is all I really carry in my pants pocket, I'm not bothered with the loss of a cargo pocket on either side, but since the front pockets are higher with the higher waist and have a smaller opening, they don't quite make up for the loss of the cargo pockets. I was in between sizes on the size chart. I originally went with the bigger of the two to have room to layer, but that also led to a comically longer inseam. I ended up exchanging for a size down for a less baggy fit and less excess material around my boots. I feel less need for a belt in the smaller size whereas the larger size was too baggy at the waist and almost required one. Overall, I like the fit and fabric of these better than the Alturas, but I dinged a star because I'd like to see a more utilitarian pocket layout and short-regular-long inseam options for better fit.

Best stuff around!

My wife has always been teasing me and talking about how all my camp is ugly. I've had camo from all the major brands but this is my favorite. My wife especially loves it because she feels that I can wear it in public.

Ripped

Thought these pants were going to go be the all around hunting pants. Didn't survive 2 hunts. Worn for a total of 13 days ripped massive hole in oak brush. No warranty. Non western big game pant.

Super comfy lightweight pant

Love the new 308 fit! I tried these on in Scheels before ordering, and I was in between sizes in the waist, so I opted to size up to allow for adequate room for base layers. For reference, I'm 5'4"" and 125 lbs and usually wear a size 0 or 2 in jeans; I went with the size 4 in the 308. They're a little big in the hips and butt, but still look good and are incredibly comfortable! They fit comfortably under my gaitors without feeling bulky. For as lightweight as they are, they block a lot of wind. They are NOT a brush pant, though—I know they are not advertised as such, but I figured it's worth mentioning. However, even after days of pheasant hunting in ND and pushing through some really thick brush, thistles, etc., the pants don't have a single snag on them. Highly recommend!
