This is my first dedicated hunting jacket. Up until now I've either worn my husband's (which is warm but gigantic and annoying) or a regular outdoor down jacket (warm, but way too loud, and when I turn my head the deer stare up at me, no good). I ordered this on Black Friday, because there was no way I was spending $450 on a jacket I wear for 2 months of the year. I had it delivered to my in-laws in NJ - it will not ship to NY - so I wasn't able to get my hands on it until Christmas, and got to try it out for the last week of bow/muzz season.

As soon as I pulled it out of the box I thought it looked small. It fit well with only a light sweater on, but I typically wear a thick heavy fleece over my base and mid-layers for hunting, and I had a feeling it would be snug. It is. I have trouble getting my arms through the sleeves, and the shoulders are tight. I am 5'8" and 120 lbs and I ordered a medium. To me the medium fits like a typical small. It is also short, hitting the top of my hip-bone. I would like more length and more rear coverage.

The stated temperature ranged for this jacket is 20-45F. I got cold within an hour sitting in my stand. Temps were primarily in the 15-25 range, anywhere from no wind to very windy, and anywhere from sun to flurries. On the one sunny windy day with temps around 35-40, the jacket performed well. I didn't feel the wind at all. On the other days, I got cold and fast. Even with hand warmers stuffed into the inside pockets and in my pant pockets and all that. I wasn't able to sit for more than 2 hours because I started shivering. On the very last day of the season when it was frigid out (wind chill was 10) I wore my husband's shell over the jacket, and I stayed warm.

The major flaw in this jacket is the hood. I can pull the hood up if I'm not wearing a hat. But when it's cold I'm obviously wearing one, and the hood is too short/tight to get it fully over my head and prevents me from turning my head at all. Talk about a serious nuisance. So the hood is useless for me, unless I'm wearing the jacket in warm enough weather that I don't need a hat. The hood needs to be roomier!

To sum up: the jacket is very quiet, has nice features, good pattern, and is excellent at blocking the wind. Given the PFAS, I'm sure it's excellent at blocking precipitation. Sizing needs to be revised and/or dimensions need to be changed, the hood needs to be bigger, and if the claim is warm down to 20 degrees then the jacket needs more insulation.

The fit is great! It is warm and has plenty of pockets for gear. The reach through to the matching bib chest pocket is great as well. I ordered the medium at first but it was very snug ( 5’4-140) so I exchanged for the large and it is perfect. Plenty of space for layering. The sweet lady over nighted the exchange for me so it would arrive prior to our hunting trip. This company has phenomenal customer service and our family will continue to do business with them for every piece of clothing we can!

Finally a late season jacket designed for the female bowhunter in mind! The kitlink pass through system is a must for late season when using hands warmers. Definitely a game changer. Love that the material isn’t bulky and it’s really quiet which has been hard to find in a late season jacket in previous years. Definitely one of my favorite pieces to wear.
